SJAB PLEDGE..

THE ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE PLEDGE

We, the members of the St John Ambulance Brigade, hereby pledge:
1. To be loyal to Singapore and the President of the Republic.
2. To upkeep the honour and dignity of the Brigade and my Country.
3. To observe the Mottoes of the Order which are: "Pro Fide" ‑ For the Faith. "Pro Utilitate Hominum" ‑ For the service of Mankind.
4. To be loyal to the Chief Commissioner and my Officers.
5. To read the Brigade Regulations and to comply with them in all respects.
6. To carry out all orders received from time to time from my seniors.
7. To carry out my duties with zeal and efficiency to the best of my ability.
8. To be courteous and honest in all my words and actions.

Some pointers that may help you in memorising, i don't know whether it is useful to you. But that's how i memorised it, so i shall still post this up just in case.
- First, the starting line of the pledge, you definitely have to know! That's for sure.
- I believe many of you have no problem for the first to the third point yea?
- So, from the fourth point onwards, the message is all linked.
- Let me ask you a question. How do you treat people of a higher post than you?
You have to respect them ya? In this case, you have to be loyal and respect the CC and officers, not forgetting to read the brigade regulations as a SJAB cadet. After addressing the CC and officers, the next higher ranking people is your seniors right? Being the junior, you have to obey the orders and accomplish them at all times. Of course, you have to do your work diligently and efficiently. Most importantly, you have to be honest in your words and actions.
- By having these points in mind, it's alot easier as you just have to know the structure of how the words is phrased. It's okay to have the lines mixed up as i believe you will be familarised with it in no time. :)
